Georgia Schools, Georgia Education
It is critical that all students at all levels receive the proper Georgia education when they are attending Georgia schools. Georgia schools provide students with a variety of information and support, ranging from school counselors and support teams to school social work, providing them with a proper Georgia education. There are Georgia education divisions in the Georgia department of Education; Learning Support, Migrant Education, School Improvement, Title 1 Programs and Teacher Quality. They are all set up to promote academic excellence in Georgia schools.
The Learning Support division provides assistance that removes barriers to student achievement, promotes policy, coordinates the No Child Left Behind Title IV-A Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities program, Academic Service Program and processes administrative and student waivers. This Georgia education division provides services to students, teachers and schools that recognize achievement through the Teacher of the Year, the Schools of Excellence and the Governors Honors program.
The vision for this division is that Georgia schools, students and teachers will achieve at their highest levels. The next is The Migrant Education Program, which helps all migrant students reach the academic standards and further prepares them for responsible citizenship and productive employment. They have been making great progress. Another division is The School Improvement Division, which provides local education agencies and Georgia schools with tools, resources and support for Georgia schools not making Adequate Yearly Progress. Five regional support teams have been formed to provide support and improvement process training for Georgia education. Also, the Title 1 Programs was created to provide resources, technical assistance and program monitoring of local Georgia education agencies to ensure opportunities for children. The goal is for students to obtain a high quality education and proficiency on high academic standards. The final division is The Teacher Quality, which was created in 2005 to promote and support quality teaching so students from every classroom improve their learning. This division collaborates with different agencies and manages use of funds to meet the teacher requirements of No Child Left Behind act.
Also, Georgia schools provide the HOPE Scholarship, which is funded by the state lottery, to students with a 3.0 or higher grade point average. This means students can still receive a Georgia education without paying their tuition. The HOPE Scholarship covers the cost of tuition and a stipend for books for up to 120 credit hours. If any student in the Georgia schools does not maintain a 3.0 grade point average while in college they can lose their scholarship. If they do not bring their grade point average above a 3.0 within a period of 30 credit hours they will lose this Georgia education scholarship. This has had a tremendous impact on Georgia schools and has increased competition for admission while at the same time increasing the quality of Georgia education.
All of these programs, scholarships and Georgia education divisions were created to help further students education and better the future for Georgia. Georgia schools have become more respectable and are making great strides in promoting academic excellence.
